Hey everyone! I just wanted to show my love and thanks to everyone who came out to the Toronto Fan Expo and showed their support to The Anthology Project! We had a really great weekend. I really wanted to show that there are more than one kind of nerd in this world. Katie is more of a book smart, knowledge sponge kind of nerd... while Rex is the good ol' super hero comic book, video game playing, still buying action figures even when your 40 kind of nerd. I personally fall into the second category, but strive to have qualities of the first.
I know Katie is a bit older than kindergarten age, but her attitude and knowledge of life reminded me of a quote I once heard by the author Robert Fulghum. (It's a little long, but I think you'll enjoy it)All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school. These are the things I learned:
Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.
Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.
And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.
I'm sure many of us remember those moments in school where the dreaded, or wonderful, (depending how you looked at it) frog surgery happened in science class. ...or was it biology? I can't remember. I was most likely just sitting in the back drawing pictures of the poor frog in my note book!

Sorry for the late in the day posting this Monday... things were a little crazy at home.
No matter where you go or for how long, or how much you fall in love with other parts of the world, somehow home is always home.
The reality about big cities that Rex doesn't yet understand, isn't that they're built to accommodate for big people, but rather, they are built big to have more room for more little people. Sadly however, some of those little people start to think they are bigger than they really are, through jobs, wealth, or other forms of status. These "big" people then turn around and make the big city bigger, making big prices so the little people stay feeling little and the big people stay feeling big.
We all have those times in life where change comes and as we take time to reflect on what's going on we often have those "ah ha" moments.

Aside from thinking that material possessions or more money actually bring happiness... which they don't... The shock of having to suddenly become independent and leave the nest might look and feel like a horribly frightening thing, but it has the potential to bring much happiness.... to both the parent and the child!

Oh the joy that comes when the work day is over and we can return to our wonderful homes. Oh the fear when the boss says, "can I talk to you just for a moment." Two thoughts often spring to mind... what did I do wrong now, or, what extra work does he want me to do.
"No more sacred word exists in secular or holy writ than that of Mother."
Times are getting a little tough for all of us these days. Besides the fact that we shouldn't eat fast food in the first place, all of us will need to be a little bit more conservative with our spending, and start to live within our means. Being prepared for emergencies will help too... I'm sure Rex has a nice large food storage in his mum's basement!
I hope everyone had a happy Easter!
This is a direct jab at people like myself, who work a 9 to 5 with people who you may not guess are gamers, but at the end of the day when someone suggests a quick round of some first person shooter on the server, they don't think twice about it. We just have to wait until the boss is gone... unless of course the boss is a gamer too.
There are those moments in life that just seem to add insult to injury. In a lot of those cases, it's the things we do and say to each other, that might seem funny at the time, but may really hurt someone.... and even though Rex is a giant cyclops that could eat a man whole, he still has feelings. Let's learn to control our thoughts, words and actions and let's not be affraid to stand up for what's right in life or in defence of someone else, even though we too might be laughed at.

It's obvious that giant like Rex would have a difficult time living in this world where everything is made for tiny little people. Driving in little cars, living in little homes with little doorways, little portions of food and drinking water out of tiny little paper cups. You'd have to be so cautious around everything... especially unsturdy water coolers at work.
I'm sure we've all had moments like this, where we're late for work or for class at school, and our first thoughts are "what am I gonna say?" Usually we make up some lame story, or if we're trying to be an honest and virtuous person we tell the truth. Either way we fear the punishment of our tardiness. Rex of course would tell the truth, even if he was crying while telling it. Frank on the other hand has no problem telling a little white lie.
So as I finished this one up, I realized that Rex has now used reference to 'wetting pants' twice in a row. My wife asked if people might find that a bit strange... at first I said "no, I don't think so"... but now I kinda hope people find it strange, because that's what Rex is. She also said that the cops pants may have looked like he wet them because of Rex's giant tears. hahah.
I'm sure most of us have had this situation happen to us, or at least been in a car when it was pulled over. I find it quite an odd feeling. Kind of like a mixture of regret and resentment. "Dang it, I'm such a dork. Why was I doing that." and "Stinkin Cop, why'd you have to catch me doing that." Either way, you're in the wrong and you got caught and you know it.
I don't suppose that this image needs much explaining. They're guys... it's what any of us would do if we were late for work. I also thought of some funny things that I could have put on the giant billboard in the backround... but they all would have distracted the eye from the real important action. So I just went with space for rent.
Guys... we always think we have the answer for everything. Truth is... a lot of times we don't really think things through very well.
